It has never been in my wildest dream that this fight will ever be possible. A smaller Manny Pacquiao whose a former Flyweight Champion against a legitimate welterweight and a great tactician Floyd Mayweather Jr. comes head-to-head this March 13, 2010.
Floyd Mayweather Jr., he's a master in terms of tactics and defense inside the ring, he uses the whole ring very well to walk his way through an easy victory on each of his every opponent. He's unbeaten with 40wins (25 K.O.), including in his resume is a split decision with Oscar Dela Hoya, TKO10 with Ricky Hatton and a lap sided unanimous decision against Juan Manuel Marquez. An aging ODLH proves himself not to count him out yet by giving PBF a great fight and winning on one of the judges card (115-113) while the two judges giving it to PBF (115-113 and 116-112). PBF-ODLH fight has been the biggest PPV event that HBO has been covered, the match was the most lucrative boxing match ever, with over $134 million in PPV revenue. Ricky Hatton was a hungry warrior when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., he's the initiator and aggressor, and Floyd took advantage to that and Hatton got caught with a left hook that floored him in the 10th round but still got up but never recovered as Joe Cortez stops the fight. As against Juan Manuel Marquez, it's a one-sided match as the most critics says "A David and Goliath" match, specially when Floyd ends up 2lbs. heavier than the agreed weight that gave him lots of advantage against a smaller and slower Marquez.
Manny Pacquiao, world renowned pound-for-pound fighter in any of the fightsport, he faced every big name in the boxing world and he conquers every weight class that he's in to. He also fought those 3 fighters that Mayweather has beaten "but" in a most impressive way. Juan Manuel Marquez, they face twice and the first one was epic. Having knockdown 3 times in the very first round, Marquez stood his ground and got back with a split draw, a very controversial split draw. There second battle was almost identical to the first although Marquez didn't fall 3 times this time but he knockdown once in the 3rd round. Marquez got up and fight his heart out upto the last round but this time Pacquiao gets the heart of the judges' score card. Ricky Hatton is the best junior welterweight and has never faced a real competitor in his weight class' (yes, he loss to Mayweather but it is in welterweight division), and as we all know, Pacquiao demolished him in just 2 rounds. Against Oscar Dela Hoya, I never thought it would also be possible coz i grew up knowing Oscar to be a legend and no filipino can ever be in ODLH's weight class and level, but again, Manny Pacquiao prove me wrong by stepping up and facing the best in the business. But with Oscar's age is his weakness, it simply shows in the fight when Manny dominates him from start 'til the end of 8th round, Oscar can't stand the punishment he's absorbing and calls it quits just before the 9th round starts.
As to summarize all this, Pacquiao fought Marquez twice in the same weight and at their same level that floored Marquez 4 times, got a draw and a win decision, while Mayweather fights Marquez and needs to cheat by having over 2lbs. on the weight limit, knocked Marquez down once (but never manage to finish off a smaller and weaker guy) and walk away with a unanimous decision. Pacquiao finishes Dela Hoya with an impressive 9th round TKO, that makes Dela Hoya looks old, slow and inefficient, that was also Oscar's last fight when he decided to hang up his gloves, while Mayweather won via split decision. Pacquiao-Hatton is never even close on the outcome of Mayweather-Hatton and I think I don't need to elaborate all that. Not to mention Miguel Cotto, a legitimate welterweight in his prime that Manny Pacquiao gave a 12-round boxing lesson. Cotto loss once prior to his fight with Pacquiao, and that was from Antonio Margarito, whose soon found out that Margarito is having an illegal strap on his hand while fighting Mosley. Most people says that he might have used it against Cotto that's why Cotto ended up bloodied in that fight. So, what's the difference with Pacquiao? Cotto also covered with his own blood on there fight... As Larry Merchant says, "Miguel Cotto has battered by an opponent which most people believes had illegally loaded gloves, now he faces an opponent with "naturally" loaded gloves". So, why Cotto-Mayweather did not happen knowing that they were both on the same weight class? Is Mayweather ducking Cotto? Hmmm... I don't know, you be the judge!

Lining up with the likes of Ali-Frazier, Hagler-Hearns, and Leonard-Duran. Every sports fan in every corner of the world anticipating this fight and there are some reports that this might gross the largest revenue in boxing history ever made. I am very grateful to live in this part of time where I can witness this historic fight happens come March 13, 2010. This kind of event only happens once in a lifetime and I don't think that there will be another Manny Pacquiao that can live up to the hype of a real Filipino warrior.
